Argus Courier Thursday, Oct 16, 2008 Letter to the Editor BY JANICE CADER-THOMPSON

Editor: I am voting for David Glass and Tiffany Renée in the Petaluma City Council race and urge you to do the same. I have lived here all my life and served one term on the City Council, during which time I secured a $4 million grant for the expansion of Shollenberger Park. I represented the residents and businesses of this community, but did not play ball with the good ol’ boys.

We need a council majority that will once again conduct the city’s business in an open, honest manner. No more behind-the-scene deals. We have experienced the same shenanigans locally that we are experiencing nationally and it is time to say enough. The current majority would have given away 64 acres of public land for a dollar per year, no questions asked, if the public, the mayor and Councilmember Barrett hadn’t stopped them.

Let’s give the mayor the team she deserves. Mayor Pam Torliatt has asked us to vote for former mayor David Glass and Tiffany Renée. We all know Torliatt. Her family, like mine, has been here for generations. And I am proud to say I supported David Glass when no one knew him. And many former foes of Glass found him to be fair and honest during his term as mayor. These are characteristics we can’t get enough of these days. He has earned our support.

Tiffany Renée comes well prepared, having run for a seat in 2006, highly praised when she applied for the vacated seat of Torliatt when Torliatt won the mayor’s post after Glass stepped aside, and Renée has continued to prepare by attending every meeting for more than two years.

I have had enough of Petaluma’s back-door politics as usual with the developers’ majority. I say give Mayor Torliatt her council and then watch a change for the better with inclusive, open government. Please vote for Glass and Renée and return the power to the people of Petaluma.
